Bio

Maggie Hightower is an artist from Atlanta, Georgia. Maggie received her Bachelor of Science in Art Marketing with a concentration in Painting in Ceramics in 2023 from the University of North Georgia.

Growing up, she found any way to create but began her art journey in high school when she took an oil painting class. Following that, she continued oil landscape paintings and floral watercolor paintings. While in college at University of North Georgia, she took ceramics as an elective and felt at home working with clay.

Artist Statement

​

As an artist, Maggie's intent is to capture the beauty of elements found in nature. Through painting and pottery, she explores and celebrates earthy colors and textures. Maggie is inspired by the shapes of flower petals and leaves, replicating them through carving clay and painting with gestural brushstrokes. Her goal is to create harmony between beauty and functionality. Her work contains functional ceramic forms with cohesive earth toned glazes. In both her painting and pottery, she experiments with shapes, using a balance of straight and curved lines. The colors and lines are reflective of natural colors and lines found in nature. Her aim is to evoke an appreciation for the elements in the viewer and point to their Creator in awe.
